Adam, Eve and Jesus
Genesis 3:6 – 13
verse 6:
The same three ways Eve was decieved, we are likewise decieved(1 John 2:16) –
lust of flesh, lust of eyes, pride of life. Satan uses these three devices
to tempt us.
verse 7:
Whenever the Hebrew word for “opened” when refering to the
eye the same word is used. It’s only used in reference to opening of the
eye. It appears seven times in the Old Testament
In Genesis 2:25 Adam and Eve were naked but unashamed. After they disobeyed
God, their eyes were open and they were ashamed.
Notice Adam and Eve
made coverings of plants. The plants had to “die” (be sacrificed) for their
sin. However plants were not good evough. God in verse 21 sacrificed an
animal to clothe them. Death had to come for a sacrifice to be accepted.
God did not accept the “offering” of Cain because he used plants not blood.
Blood must be offered for a sacrifice / forgiveness of sins.
verses 8 – 11:
Adam and Eve knew they sinned. But instead of coming
to God for forgiveness they hid themselves. Adam was afraid because he was
naked. God gave Adam and Eve and chance to repent, but instead they cast
the blame. Just like we still do today. We are tempted to cast our sin on to
someone else. We are responsible for our own actions and must convess
our sins (1 John 1:9).
verses 12 – 13:
Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed Satan. She said she was
“decieved”. However Adam was not. Adam knew what he was about to do –
disobedience towards God.
1 Timothy 2:13 – 14
Adam was not decieved like Eve was. He was aware of the sine he was about to commit.
2 Corinthians 11:1 – 6
Fear Satan would try to seperate the church from God, like he did in the Garden. Satan and his minons used various tacticts to get us to “fall”. But we believers have someone to help us, back us, and forgive our sins. This man is Jesus Christ, God. Jesus’ blood covers us much like God used skins of animals to cover Adam and Eve.
