Freedom

And the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
– 2 Corinthians 3:17

Freedom. What a powerful word. To be free is to be unhindered, unbound from restraints. From the Old Testament, we were all bound by our sins, and from that sin we were destined for death. But Jesus broke those shackles when He rose from the dead. Through His death and resurrection, we have been set free from the old law.
The Greek word for “freedom” here is eleutheria—a word that means liberty, release, and the ability to live rightly. Those who have been gifted with the Holy Spirit have been liberated from the claws of sin and death. Our physical death is not the end—it’s the doorway to eternal life with Jesus.
But this freedom isn’t abstract—it’s carried by the Spirit Himself. In Genesis 1:2, we meet Ruach Elohim, the Spirit of God, hovering over the waters. That same Spirit now hovers over our chaos, bringing order, life, and renewal. In Exodus 31:3, Ruach Elohim fills Bezalel with wisdom and skill to build the Tabernacle. Today, He fills us with power to build lives of holiness, creativity, and purpose.
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom—because Ruach Elohim doesn’t just liberate us from sin; He empowers us to live as sons and daughters of God.
